Over the past year I have had the privilege of participating in one-on-one emotional intelligence coaching with Jamelle. Learning how to leverage my emotional self-awareness to inform and strengthen my other EQ competencies has definitely been a game changer. Although this is an on-going process, my direct reports, peers and managers have all seen a significant change in my presence as a leader, and I have strengthened my relationships with my peers. My new skills have also transformed the way I approach challenges in my personal life. Thank you Jamelle for your dedication and support through this life changing journey.

Jamelle is a skilled coach, source of wise counsel, and consummate professional. His preparation for each of our sessions and recollection of the details of previous ones almost makes you feel like his only client, despite his clearly packed schedule. Under his guidance I've made tremendous strides in emotional self-awareness and stress management that have made a real difference in my professional and personal lives. Working with busy leaders, Jamelle has clearly learned to strike an effective balance between holding me accountable to my commitments in personal development while understanding the competing demands of the workplace. I recommend him highly to any leader who is looking to improve the quality of their life through EQ development.

Jamelle spoke at HRPA's first annual virtual Conference & Trade show in January 2021. He is truly a gifted speaker, with valuable and insightful content that was well-received by our attendees. Jamelle's session was ranked as one of the top 10 sessions of our program. Here's what some attendees had to say: "Talk about saving the best for last!! An essential component of a good facilitator is being able to manage the session beyond reciting a set of slides. Jamelle was engaging DURING his presentation AND after! He connected the points on the slide and made each comment connect to an example. He listened to each question (asked for it to be repeated if necessary) and thoroughly answered each one. How refreshing!! His answers weren't canned or rehearsed, but rather, specific and helpful. He gave practical examples and transitioned his thoughts into helpful responses. What an exceptional presenter!!! THAT is the kind of MC or HOST this session needs. Well done!!" "Fantastic session! Filled with so many takeaways for HR professionals and things they can apply in their day-to-day lives, both professionally and personally. Loved the tips and resources provided to us to take back to our workplaces and work toward improving EQ and EI!"

I had the great pleasure of working with Jamelle for the best part of a year and it was an amazing journey. EQ, whilst not a foreign concept to me was not something I truly understood or fully appreciated prior to my work with Jamelle. Jamelle’s vast experience in EQ, hands on approach and very personable nature helped me join the dots and see firsthand the benefits of EQ development.
Jamelle showed up to all our sessions, provided great insight and perspective to our discussions on daily reflections. Jamelle has an amazing ability to “Dig deeper” which was hugely beneficial in crystalizing my understanding of reaction/triggers in my daily reflections. Jamelle provided me with various tools that helped me develop my self-awareness, empathy and become a better leader and person. I would highly recommend Jamelle services to anyone seeking to develop their EQ skills in a structured, engaging and enjoyable environment.

Working with Jamelle has allowed me to uncover many facets of not only my abilities as a leader, but also my understanding of empathy - both for others and for myself. I have been able to explore situational awareness, communication style, non-verbal communication, and so many other incredible tools that I never realized I had at my disposal, and simply needed to learn how to access them. Jamelle has been an incredible support, and I am looking forward to learning so much more. I strongly recommend Jamelle to anyone looking for a well-structured and proactive approach to leadership coaching, empathy and EQ training, and team building.

We booked Jamelle to speak to our Roadmap to Leadership Program members (leaders and emerging leaders). Jamelle taught the group emotional intelligence through experiential exercises and real-world case studies. He had a commanding presence that motivated the group to participate. The material was very applicable to our program and useful for leaders and emerging leaders. We would definitely recommend his workshop to other organizations.

As a leader who has built my career focusing the majority of my attention and intentions externally, I found my experience of working with Jamelle to be invaluable. He has a unique ability to cut through the noise and internal clutter which allows you to really understand what you value most professionally and personally. Investing in your own internal development is a gift we all deserve. Highly, highly recommend.

Strong EQ is so important to building and maintaining a positive culture, and Jamelle is skilled at helping individuals continue to learn and grow in this area. Jamelle worked with our senior leaders facilitating 360 Reviews and EQ coaching. The process was very rewarding for our entire team, helping us enhance our emotional intelligence, recognize blind spots, and continue to grow both individually and as a team.

It's been great working with Jamelle. I appreciated his ability to assess, dissect and offer perspectives to enhance my EQ as a leader. I worked with Jamelle for nearly 12 months and really enjoyed the experience. Our discussions were always engaging and insightful, helping me to identify blind spots by considering different perspectives to everyday situations. The techniques I developed with Jamelle have made me a better leader and the progress I made over 12 months was significant. I will continue practicing these techniques even now that our program has ended. I highly recommend Jamelle’s services to any leader looking to take the next step in their development.

I was first introduced to Jamelle at The Conference Board of Canada, Better Workplace Conference. His engaging delivery and thought provoking workshop was truly refreshing and incredibly relevant in the virtual world today. I reconnected with Jamelle a few months later to ask that he share his knowledge and experiences on emotional intelligence with our people leaders. Thank you Jamelle for inspiring us through this energetic and one of a kind learning experience.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Jamelle as my mentor over the last year throughout my emotional intelligence journey. Since the beginning of our mentorship, I’ve learned so much about the importance of emotions both personally and professionally. I’ve come to realize that emotions affect our behaviour whether we realize it or not, and that we have the ability to learn to use them as a tool rather than letting them control us.

Jamelle has helped me develop my self-awareness by improving my ability to recognize emotions when they come. We were able to look at patterns and dig into thoughts and beliefs that lead to them, then practice strategies to regulate these emotions and use them as opportunities to identify issues or take necessary actions. Through our mentorship, I’ve gained an awareness of my strengths and weaknesses, and together we strategize how to use them to my advantage in my personal life and my career.

Jamelle has guided me through many important career milestones, including negotiating for raises and promotions at work, dealing with my direct reports in my first-time leadership role, and helping me identify signs of burnout and prevent it during my career.

He’s helped me develop my assertiveness and guided me through setting boundaries, he’s helped me develop my communication in relationships by expressing my emotions and having difficult - but important - conversations, and taught me that we have the power to control and influence our emotions and use them in our favour.

Over our time together, he’s left me with many resources, from one-on-one sessions and mindfulness exercises, to skill testing assessments, books, articles, apps, and videos. I have a myriad of tools to continue to develop and practice my EQ skills.

Jamelle is extremely knowledgeable, insightful, and professional, while being so patient, empathetic, and thoughtful. He’s been so supportive throughout the journey, and he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I can honestly say that this journey with Jamelle has been one of the most impactful and valuable experiences in my career and life.

Jamelle was a featured speaker for a virtual event in partnership with the Faculty of Communications & Design's Wellness Week at Ryerson University. He spoke enthusiastically about wellness and mental health while providing thoughtful examples for attendees to overcome their feelings of personal defeat and doubt. His strong presence, paired with his contagious energy, kept our audience engaged and attentive throughout the event. Our students surely benefited from his expertise in topics of mental wellness and self-care!

We asked Jamelle to be a speaker for a virtual event at our Vancouver office. He was supposed to be in attendance for 90 minutes. He went well beyond that time and his presentation generated meaningful discussion that day and in the days following the virtual meeting. He makes the life long apprenticeship in Emotional Intelligence achievable for all. We are already considering an EI Presentation 2.0 from Jamelle. Thank you Jamelle!

Jordan Assaraf, Lawyer, Gluckstein Lawyers

As a Lawyer, some of us think that we have high Emotional Intelligence ("EI"). It was not until I completed Jamelle's recent one on one EI coaching, that I realized the benefits of improving my own Emotional Intelligence skills would have on myself and my interaction with clients and colleagues.

I started this program as a continuation from the Global CEO course where I thought my biggest yield would be my EQ Skills. I thought it was extremely helpful to complete the full EQ 360 report as well as having friends, colleagues and family complete the questionnaire to really understand my EQ strengths and weaknesses.

To get the most out of the EQ training, our first session started by creating my Smart Goals, which did not change throughout the course and still remain something I plan on striving to be better at.

Enhancing emotional intelligence in the area of Emotional Self Awareness (Impulse Control, Stress Tolerance and Empathy)

This was followed by creating items to focus on:

A. Identify and regulate my emotions
B. Recognize and manage my thoughts and beliefs.

Each week we had three action items to work on. Two of which stayed the same throughout and one which would constantly change so long as I met the action items for each session.

A. Morning and Evening Mediation
B. Journal – trigger event, emotions I felt and thoughts I have in that moment

At the start of each coaching program, we would discuss challenges I had with my emotions that were reflective in my journal entries each day. One word which stood out and still stands out with respect to the discussion surrounding what triggered me is the word WHY.

Whenever I would discuss what was going on and provide what I thought was the reason for the trigger or what had occurred I was always asked the word WHY. At first instance, I thought the WHY came from WHY I thought this trigger or event occurred and as time went on, I was able to learn that the WHY was relating to WHY THE OTHER PERSON FELT OR BEHAVED THE WAY THEY DID. This really stood out for me as it shaped the rest of our coaching discussions and caused me to ask more questions from the person or event that triggered me and not to assume what someone was going through or feeling.

The above is just a snap shot into the impact that Jamelle's coaching journey led me through. Over all, I highly recommend this course for everyone. You will gain valuable tools to use in your everyday life, that you might think you already know, however, with Jamelle's coaching and guidance you will be looking at EI from a completely new perspective and come out of his coaching sessions not only as a better person but an extremely better and understanding leader.

Thank you, Jamelle.

Jamelle has had a fundamental impact on my professional and personal development during our short time together. His ability to analyze complex EQ results in a sensitive and easily to digest fashion is second to none. His calming demeanor and modern approach make the normally difficult process of analyzing EQ results an enlightening and enjoyable experience. At no point has Jamelle ever made me feel rushed, he's always been accessible and above all he genuinely cares. Keep doing what you do my friend, you're making the world a better place.

I have been an event attendee and a personal assessment client of Jamelle's. He delivers the most enthusiastic and useful presentation I've attended in a complex area of management, emotional intelligence, that my entire team found useful. His assessment and debriefing thereof were insightful and gave me direct feedback into my own sense of self, my team's sense of myself, and the gaps in opinions between the two which was arguably the most important part. Overall, the report developed a well-rounded sense of improvement areas and strengths. Most importantly, there were takeaways/recommendations/action items at the conclusion of the engagement where I can work toward improving my emotional intelligence. Thank you for the value Jamelle.

Jordan Godelie, Operations Manager, Benko Pet Foods

Jordan Godelie, Operations Manager, Benko Pet Foods

When I originally met Jamelle, he had spoken at the Patrick Lencioni seminar a few years ago on emotional intelligence. His words really resonated with me about having a high EQ (which can be taught!) to help yourself become a better leader, and better person.

Before the 6 months of training with Jamelle, I felt uncomfortable in my role as an operations manager of my company, and unable to successfully dictate and hold people accountable, but also failing at being able to have real, empathetic conversations with them.

As the training progressed I found myself growing confidently with the tools he had begun to provide. With EQ, it isn’t a fast change overnight, but a gradual one where you start to realize that you CAN change if you’re willing to put the work in. With the tools Jamelle gave me during our sessions, and through the meditation and workbooks he provided, I was able to discover more in-depth emotional intelligence within myself.

As mentioned, it’s a gradual process, a process that if you put in the work, and follow his instructions, you can notice a huge difference in your life. (Jamelle made one of my action items to deal with an accountability issue I had been letting slide, and he follows up every session to see how your action items are going.)

Now that my training is complete, myself, Jamelle, and my boss, feel like I am an entirely different person, and more importantly based on my goals, an entirely different manager. I am now a manager who is able to have those tough conversations with staff. I am the manager who can hold one on ones confidently, and have morning huddles with all my staff and feel confident about the work I’m putting in. I spent too much time focused on their perception of me being the boss, instead of just being the boss. And once you drop that perception, and function well in your role with the things you learn through Jamelle, you will feel vastly more comfortable in your role.

Once you can cast the old thoughts of ‘this is just who I am’ away and realize you CAN change if you put the work in, this is a life changing experiencing that I think any manager, new or old, would benefit from, even if confidence in their role isn’t what they struggle with. The 6 months I spent with Jamelle were, quite frankly, life changing. To grow from being a manager who felt like he had impostor syndrome in their role and avoidance of issues, to being a manager who can hold daily meetings and daily accountability practices has been the step my career development needed to propel me forward.

Jamelle is very passionate about helping people get to where they should be even when they do not know where that is. That is the journey Jamelle takes you on and I was fortunate to have him guide me at a point in my life when I was looking for answers. He has a great career ahead of him and you will be lucky to have him help you find your path. Whatever that may be.
